India national cricket team batting coach Sitanshu Kotak was involved in an animated conversation with young Tamil Nadu batsman Sai Sudarshan after he missed a century in the second Test against the West Indies national cricket team.

The second and final Test match of the series between the India national cricket team and the West Indies national cricket team began on Friday, October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Sai Sudarshan missed a good century

23-year-old Sudarshan was under pressure before the match as he was unable to repay the faith shown by the Gautam Gambhir-led team management.

Sudarshan was mostly unimpressive in the first four Test matches he played for India and was not successful in scoring big scores. In the first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where conditions were good for batting, he could score only 7 runs.

Meanwhile, in the second test the conditions were once again favorable for batting and this time Sai Sudarshan did not waste the opportunity and scored good runs. He looked determined to play a big innings and reached his half-century off 87 balls.

Sudarshan did not seem satisfied with fifty and slowly moved closer to the three-figure mark. The way the West Indies bowlers were bowling, it seemed that the batsman would definitely score a century, but unfortunately it did not happen.

On the third ball of the 69th over, spinner Jomel Warrican bowled a fast spinning ball which hit the inside edge of Sai Sudarshan and hit his back leg. After the appeal of the West Indies players, the on-field umpire immediately raised his finger.

However, a reluctant Sai Sudarshan asked for a review, and ball-tracking showed that there was no bat involved and the ball would have hit the stumps.

A dejected Sai Sudarshan walked back to the hut after scoring 87 off 165 balls with 12 fours and was seen having an animated conversation with batting coach Sitanshu Kotak on the balcony. In a lengthy conversation, Kotak was seen highlighting the mistake made by the Tamil Nadu batsman which led to his dismissal.

It was a good contribution, good partnership between me and Jaiswal- Sai Sudarshan

Speaking to the broadcasters after the end of the day’s play, Sai Sudarshan said that he expressed himself in the middle and played freely without giving in to any kind of pressure. He said:

“It was a good contribution, good partnership between me and Jaiswal. Hopefully, we will have a long partnership and get a big score. Obviously, I was not thinking about scoring runs, so I was a bit more free, expressed myself, took time rather than rushing into things.”

“I don’t try to make things up. I’m grateful for what I’ve done but there’s always a thought in mind to make more, happy with the runs but want to make more. It’s exciting to watch him bat from the other end, he turns good balls into boundary balls, it’s great to see.”
