South Africa’s off-spinner Simon Harmer continues to perform brilliantly during the ongoing two-match Test series against Team India. Harmer dismissed opener KL Rahul with a ball that would make any off-spinner happy on the fourth day of the second Test at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium (Tuesday, November 25).
The Proteas declared their second innings at 260/5 with a lead of 548. Tristan Stubbs was out after scoring 94 runs off 180 balls, which included nine fours and a six. Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets, while Washington Sundar got one wicket. Other bowlers failed to take any wicket in the innings.
Simon Harmer defeats KL Rahul with a tremendous ripper
Simon Harmer bowled a brilliant ball in the 10th over. Harmer pulled KL Rahul forward and tossed the ball outside off. After this the ball turned rapidly from the rough, crossed the gap between the bat and the pad and hit the stumps.
KL Rahul tried to play across the line and left too much space for the ball to penetrate. The mistake was made worse by his forwardness and closed bat. Due to this wicket, India was in deep trouble and both the opening batsmen returned to the pavilion.
Harmer enjoyed a brilliant series and took another wicket. Rahul had to go back to the dressing room after scoring 6 runs in 29 balls. India lost its second wicket on the score of just 21 runs.

KL Rahul appointed India captain for South Africa ODI
KL Rahul’s batting duties in the Test series are now over and he will be seen in action during the ODI leg of the tour. The BCCI has named him the captain of India for the three-match ODI series against South Africa starting from November 30 in Ranchi.
Rahul will lead the team with regular captain Shubman Gill unavailable. The Karnataka batsman already has the experience of leading India in limited overs cricket. Till now he has captained the ODI team 12 times and has won eight of them.
He led India during the ODI series in South Africa in December 2023 and led the team to a 2–1 win. With his return as captain, India will look to recover from their most recent ODI series loss to Australia.
As a batsman, Rahul has been one of India’s most reliable performers in this format. He has scored 3,092 runs in 88 ODI matches at an impressive average of 48.31, which includes seven centuries and 18 fifties.
