The Indian Premier League (IPL) vs Pakistan Super League (PSL) debate is one that never ends. Fans and the cricket world often compare the two leagues and discuss everything from the quality of cricket to the level of competition. Now Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has shared his views on the IPL vs PSL debate.
Raza feels that the Indian Premier League has gone far ahead of the rest of the cricket world in terms of batting standards and the way T20 cricket is being played in the modern era. He emphasized that the situation of IPL in international cricket can soon become normal.
Sikandar Raza says IPL is ahead of cricket world
IPL is known for huge scores, fearless batting and non-stop entertainment. Scores above 200 are now common in tournaments, with batsmen attacking from the start and the biggest reason behind this batting revolution is the Impact Player rule.

This rule has given teams additional batting depth, allowing top-order players to play aggressively without worrying too much about losing wickets. This has completely changed the approach of many IPL teams and made life extremely difficult for the bowlers.
However, Sikandar Raza believes that the rest of the cricket world will also eventually move in the same direction. The Zimbabwe all-rounder feels scores around 220 may soon be seen as competitive rather than exceptional in T20I cricket.
Sikandar Raza joins IPL vs PSL debate with bold comment
He credited the IPL for India’s success in the T20 World Cup, saying the high level of competition in the tournament helps players prepare for major ICC events before they arrive.
Raza said on the show Hasna Mana Hai, “There is no comparison to the IPL. Right now, we may find it disappointing to see scores of 250 being scored regularly in the IPL, but I think they are ahead of their time. International cricket will also reach that level eventually.”
Due to the Impact Player rule, 250 may still be difficult, but 220 may become a par score. They are ahead of other countries because they prepare for the World Cup the whole year and that is why they keep winning them. This is the true truth.”
Difference between IPL and PSL
Meanwhile, Raza admitted that the PSL presents a very different kind of challenge. While the IPL is often dominated by the batsmen, the Pakistan Super League is widely regarded as a tournament where bowlers still play an influential role in matches.

Most PSL teams have quality pace attacks, and the conditions often offer bounce, pace and reverse swing, making it very difficult to score runs in the tournament. And that’s why many PSL matches are decided on the basis of bowling performances rather than explosive batting.
Even chasing a target around 160 can be difficult as the bowlers remain in competition throughout the game. Both leagues serve different purposes. The IPL is leading the batting revolution and influencing how T20 cricket is played around the world, while the PSL remains a competition where bowlers are tested and rewarded for their talent.
