Sikandar Bakht attacks Shahid Afridi, Saqlain Mushtaq to save Shaheen-Shadab from criticism

A short clip of a live television debate was shared on the social media platform, where cricket fans can see how Bakht presented his appeal to some specific individuals, without mentioning anyone’s name. However, it is believed that the comments were made to Shahid Afridi and Saqlain Mushtaq to defend Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan respectively.

“Any former cricketer whose close relative is part of the team should refrain from making public comments,” former cricketer Sikandar Bakht said through a live programme.

During a recent event, Shahid Afridi defended his son-in-law, Pakistan cricket team star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, saying that he would have kept Shaheen on the bench only to get the best out of him.

“Shaheen was not in my XI. And I knew how to get the best out of him. I tried to provoke him by getting his father-in-law to say the same thing that everyone else was saying (dropping him from the XI). I had to provoke him. And if anyone asks me about the next match, I will drop Shaheen for that game too and will not keep him in the team. That’s how you have to keep that fire burning inside him”, Shahid Afridi said. On the other hand, Saqlain Mushtaq made some comments on his son-in-law Shadab Khan as well as Mohammad Nawaz. Mushtaq started an argument with former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez for defending Khan during the post-match TV debate.

Mushtaq replied, “These boys have played over a hundred T20s. They know their role. The problem is not clarity – it’s execution. Let’s stop making excuses and answer the spade”, when Hafeez asked him if Shadab Khan deserved to be in the team.
