Even before stepping into their first season in the PSL, the newly purchased franchise Sialkot Stallions has undergone a major change in ownership and one of Ali Tareen’s closest friends has changed its name to Multan Sultans.

The Pakistan Super League, PSL, is going through some big changes as their former franchise, Multan Sultans, was about to lose their participation due to the conflict between their owners and the PCB. However, two new teams were also included in the PSL draft.

One of the new franchises to be a part of the upcoming season of PSL is Sialkot Stallions, but now they have undergone a massive makeover. Hyderabad Kingsmen is the other team that will be a part of the upcoming season.

Sialkot Stallions end in PSL as new CEO brings back Multan Sultans

These include several cities which were shortlisted for franchises. Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, Faisalabad, Hyderabad and Sialkot, only the last two were selected as franchises. The Stallions were purchased by OZ Developers in the franchise auction held on 8 January.

Shortly thereafter, the Stallionz underwent a major ownership change. Reportedly, CD Ventures has struck a deal with OZ Developers and taken over the franchise, and renamed it Multan Sultans.

Gohar Shah of CD Ventures will be the new CEO of the newly named team, Multan Sultans.

Sialkot Stallions journey in PSL

The journey of Sialkot Stallions began on January 8 with OZ Group making a huge investment of PKR 185 crore to acquire the franchise. However, even before the team’s debut, the hopes of the people of Sialkot have been dashed.

On 3 March, he announced that CD Ventures had acquired Sialkot with another big bid of PKR 200 crore and renamed it Multan Sultans. Hence, this marks the end of the Stallions’ journey in the PSL.

“Tareen Group has provided many services for Pakistan Cricket and PSL,” says the new CEO.

The new CEO of Multan Sultans has credited the former owners of the Multan Sultans team and acknowledged that the Tareen Group has made a significant impact on the development of the PSL and Pakistan cricket.

He has guaranteed that he will focus on building on this legacy, and Ali Tareen, who is his friend, is always welcome to watch the matches.

He said, “The Tareen Group has provided many services to Pakistan cricket and the PSL. Our aim will be to take the team forward from where they left off. Ali Tareen is my friend, and everyone will be welcomed to watch Multan’s matches.”
