Shubman Gill gets Miss Dilip Trophy

After his brilliant show in England, Shubman Gill was considered for a T20I withdrawal and depicted as the vice-captain of India in the Asia Cup, with the hope that he could be switched to a captaincy role in white-ball formats later.

However, with white-ball cricket, he was also named North Zone Side skipper for the Duleep Trophy season, which would mark the beginning of the Indian domestic season on August 28.

Shubman is likely to remember the Dalip Trophy starting in Bengaluru, as the North Area Selection Committee is expecting their potential unavailability for the zonal competition. Till Friday, he had not received any communication from the north region associations.

Gill is likely to rest before the Asia Cup due to illness, as Cricbz has reported that he has been tested by Physio and has presented a health report to BCCI.

North Zone had already announced Gill’s replacement for the Dalip Trophy

Shubman Gill would not have appeared during the full force of the Dalip Trophy anyway, as he would have to leave for international commitments with the Indian team for the Asia Cup. The Asia Cup begins on 9 September, and India has set its first practice session on 5 September.

This proves that he may only be involved in the early game of the Duleep Trophy season; However, he had already nominated Shubam Rohila as Shubman Gill’s replacement on behalf of North Zone. Haryana players and vice-captains, Ankit Kumar, can be seen playing the role of captain of the North Region.

North Zone Selection Committee also named replacement for other players leaving midway for international duty

The North Zone Committee also announced the choice of replacement of Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, as these players will also leave for the Asia Cup 2025.

The North Zone Selection Committee consists of Chetan Sharma (Haryana), Nikhil Chopra (Delhi), Amit Uniyal (Chandigarh), Mithun Minhas (J&K and Convenor), Raj Kumar (Services) and Mukesh Kumar (Himachala Pradesh).

He has named Garnoor Brar and Anuj Tharal as a replacement for two Indian bowlers, who will play for India in the Asia Cup with Shubman Gill.
