The list identified him as a USA citizen (he was born in Detroit) with a base net worth of PKR 6,000,000 (approximately ₹19.6 lakh). Given the complex sporting relations between India and Pakistan, the news triggered an immediate wave of social media scrutiny.
Agni Chopra is the son of filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and film critic Anupama Chopra.
He is a citizen of USA and has also played cricket in India. He represented Mizoram in the Ranji Trophy.

Taking to Instagram Stories to set the record straight, Agni issued a strong rebuttal:
“Fake and misleading reports are being circulated in my name regarding a tournament. I would like to clarify that I have not enrolled for the PSL. I am completely focused on my cricket journey in the United States and my long-term career goals. I request everyone not to fall prey to misinformation.”
His mother, renowned film critic Anupama, added to the denial by sharing the statement on her platform. While his name appeared in the initial draft of the auction list, reports indicate that the PCB has released a revised list removing his name.
