India’s World Cup winning spinner Harbhajan Singh has shared his clear and direct view on India’s captaincy talks around Shubman Gill. Harbhajan Singh does not fully agree to create the Shubman Gill of India National Cricket Team in all three formats.
The former Indian spinner believes that Shubman Gill has everything to become the captain of India in all three forms of the game in future, but now, the T20I team should have its expert leader. Currently, Suryakumar Yadav is leading the T20I team.

Harbhajan Singh was quoted by the Times of India, saying, “Earlier, there used to be only one captain, even if the format was different. Now, there are three captains. When there are three formats, the mind is captured. Cricket, or all three formats.”
They believe that the leadership of the three teams can put a lot of pressure on a person and affect how he shapes his career. The former Indian spinner has suggested that Gill should focus on creating a strong impression as the first test captain and at the same time prepare himself for the ODI role.

If Gill has successfully handled Tests and ODI cricket, he will naturally be prepared for great responsibilities later, as Harbhajan wants Gill to create his heritage in tests and ODIs.
But when it comes to T20i cricket, Harbhajan feels that there should be a separate captain who is only included in that format and understands its fast speed and changing team combinations every day.
Harbhajan explained, “I think all three formats are challenging because it takes a lot of time. There are different formats. Different players come in different formats. There is a completely different team in T20I cricket. There is a separate team in Test cricket. It is going to be a big challenge.”

The off-spinner of former India has made it clear that he is not doubting Gill’s talent or leadership ability; Instead, he only wants to take step by step without overloading the young test captain.
