Sanju Samson revealed at the India Today Conclave 2026 that some of his other colleagues are jealous of Abhishek Sharma’s huge fan following. Samson jokingly said that wherever he went to play for Team India, most of the crowd would gather just to catch a glimpse of the left-handed batsman.
Samson often wondered whether there was hardly anyone in the crowd other than Sharma who had come to watch the players of the Indian cricket team. This widespread popularity is due to the batsman’s rapid rise from the Indian Premier League to the dressing room of the Indian national cricket team – the southpaw’s rise was rapid due to his flamboyant batting approach.
Sanju Samson has advised Abhishek Sharma to get married soon
At the event, Sanju Samson advised Abhishek Sharma to get married soon, so that others can get some attention from the fans.
Sanju Samson joked, “But yes, he is the superstar of the team now. Get married soon brother.”
“Earlier, boys were jealous of Abhishek’s cheering. It was Abhishek everywhere. We used to say, “Do people only look at him or what?” She expressed her doubt with a cheeky smile on her face.
IPL 2024 was a turning point in Sharma’s career
IPL 2024 was a turning point in Sharma’s career. He created a ruckus at almost every venue with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) grabbing instant attention. In IPL 2024, the opening batsman scored a total of 484 runs with the help of 36 fours and 42 sixes in 16 matches and 16 innings. The strike rate of 204.21 is a vivid proof of how fearlessly the batsmen attacked the bowlers in that season.
After such an impressive performance, Abhishek Sharma never looked back. He got the chance to play for the senior national team in the T20 International format, where he continued his signature batting style – smashing bowlers all over the park, no matter what position he played.
Sharma said that he wants to represent Team India in all three formats. With a goal in mind, he will continue the process as he has in the past. As of now, Sharma has confirmed that no one can stop him.
Ultimate goal for India is to play all formats: Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma acknowledged the former Indian all-rounder’s role behind his development, saying, “Obviously, the ultimate goal is to play as much as possible for India in all formats. But I have stopped thinking too much about those things because they are not in my hands. I just want to follow the process that has been taught to me by Yuvraj Singh in the last two years.”
“That’s one thing I’ve learned – if it’s not in my hands, I shouldn’t worry about it. Whatever format I’m playing right now, I just have to perform and help win games. But of course, it’s also a dream to play ODI cricket for India if I get a chance”, he also said at the conclave.
