India’s ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill was not included in Punjab’s playing eleven against Sikkim in the fifth round of Vijay Hazare Trophy in Jaipur on Saturday, January 3. The right-handed batsman’s absence from the line-up raised questions, especially ahead of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand.
Gill traveled to Jaipur with Arshdeep Singh on Friday night. The fast bowlers were included in Punjab’s playing eleven, but Gill was absent. It is noteworthy that the match between Punjab and Sikkim is going on at Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground. There is no seating available at the venue, and spectators are not allowed to attend.
