The Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Qualifier 2 match was between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. It was Shubman Gill’s performance in Qualifier 2 as GT thrashed Royals, won the game by 7 wickets and qualified for the IPL 2026 final.

Later, the RR captain had to take a call again and it remained in favor of the Royals, who won the toss and elected to bat first. They played with the same team, but GT made one change with the addition of R Sai Kishore.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi missed another century

After electing to bat first, Royals got off to the worst possible start as Yashasvi Jaiswal was out early for one run, and Dhruv Jurel was also out early for 7 runs. At 9/2, the Men in Pink were struggling at one point, but they recovered well as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ravindra Jadeja stood firm.

Vaibhav completed his half-century in 31 balls and Jadeja retired hurt after playing an inning of 34 runs; However, they had to come back after the fall of wickets in quick succession. He then continued the run flow as the former took charge and changed his gears a bit, but was out for 96 and missed out on another century.

Jaddu and Donovan Ferreira played stormy innings in the last five overs. The latter was the aggressive one, scoring 38* off 11 balls, and the former remained unbeaten on 45 as the Royals finished with a score of 214-6 in their 20 overs.

Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century in the run chase

We complement each other – Shubhman Gill

Shubman Gill won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant innings and shared his insights after winning the game for his team. “There was some confusion there but happy to get the win. We complement each other, we understand each other very well and when we communicate we know which bowler to get out,” he said.

“I don’t think I’ve seen anything, no one has seen anything like that in two matches in a row. It was all about me being in one zone, watching the bowlers and watching the ball, picking my spots to score runs.”

Shubman Gill concluded, “That’s what happens when you are batting well. We got the total, and once we got started, I wanted to finish the game. We are very lucky to have very good bowlers, Sai Kishore didn’t have a single ball today.”
