Indian captain Shubman Gill has broken his silence on his relationship with Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and claimed that they often talk for the betterment of the Indian cricket team.
Ever since Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian team, he has been continuously in the headlines due to his controversial decisions. However, one player who has benefited from the move is youngster Shubman Gill.
Shubman Gill was made the captain of the Indian Test team before the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and he performed excellently in his very first tour. Following his much-publicised success in red-ball cricket, Gill has now been handed a leadership role in the ODI team.
Shubman Gill reveals strong relationship with head coach Gautam Gambhir
As Gautam Gambhir has been repeatedly accused of having a strained relationship with senior Indian cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin due to which he has considered retiring from the longest format of the game, the current Indian captain has given Gambhir a reprieve from such scandalous allegations.
Players like Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli, who have been part of the Indian team since Gambhir started playing for India, have never claimed to have disagreements with the Indian coach on any matter. But dismissing the claims on social media, Gill has confirmed that he has a good bonding with the Indian coach and they often discuss plans for the betterment of the Indian team.
“We have a good relationship. We talk about making players safe. Also, we talk about creating a pool of fast bowlers,” Gill told PTI about his equation with head coach Gautam Gambhir.

India aims for strong pace attack ahead of 2027 ODI World Cup
As reported by Shubman Gill, the Indian coach also aims to build a strong pace attack ahead of the upcoming World Cup in South Africa. South African conditions often favor fast bowlers, and hence India need to confirm their bowlers in the next two series against Australia and New Zealand.
India are opting for Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj to try out several bowling pairs along with experienced fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian maestro’s workload has also been carefully managed so that he remains fit and available to star in the two upcoming World Cups to be held in two consecutive years.
