GT’s two openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan have now completed 22 half-century partnerships as an opening pair in the IPL, breaking the previous record held by Virat Kohli and his RCB teammates.
Gujarat Titans may not have the best batting lineup in the history of the IPL, yet they have been one of the most productive batting units and have set several batting records. These batting records have been made in the last three seasons under the captaincy of Gill.
Gujarat are taking on rivals Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at the New Chandigarh Stadium, where the RR team defeated their opponents in the eliminator. Batting first, RR have played their part, and the GT batsmen have a lot of work to do.
GT openers Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill break Virat Kohli’s big IPL record
Gujarat Titans have often been criticized for relying too heavily on their top three players for most of their run scoring. The top three batsmen contribute almost 70% of the runs scored by the Titans.
However, the remarkable consistency of their top three is enough to make any team jealous. Sudarshan has completed almost 700 runs this season, while Shubman Gill is also close to this mark while batting against the Royals.
Together they made a brilliant fifty-run partnership and gave a good start to their team. This was his 22nd fifty-plus partnership in the IPL, breaking the previous record held between RCB greats Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle.
