A petition was filed for the Supreme Court of India to cancel the Asia Cup match
Earlier, an argument was made to the Supreme Court of India on cancellation of the match; However, the judges refused to list it as an urgent case.
“Cricket is to show goodwill and friendship among the nations. But after the Falgam terror attack and operation vermilion, when our people died and our soldiers put everything at risk, playing with Pakistan sent the opposite message that our soldiers sacrificed their lives, we are celebrating the game with the same country,”
The petitioners said, “It can also hurt the sentiments of the families of the victims who lost their lives in the hands of the Pakistani terrorist. The dignity of the nation and the safety of the citizens come before entertainment.”
The petition said that a cricket match between the two countries was “harmful to national interests” and armed forces and morale of the entire country.
