Shreyas Iyer’s sister Shresta Iyer opens fire against Jay Shah for dropping her brother from Indian Central Contracts

Shresta Iyer, sister of Shreyas Iyer, has raised several eyebrows by commenting on an Instagram post on her brother. The right-handed batsman recently suffered several big setbacks. He was dropped from the Test squad after the second Test of the recently concluded five-match series against England. Shreyas Iyer faced the axe after failing to do well in the two Tests, registering scores of 35, 13, 27 and 29.

He suffered another blow after the axing as the BCCI terminated his central contract. The board took the big call after the Mumbai star ignored its directive to play in the Ranji Trophy. Along with Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan lost his contract as well for the same reason. The BCCI also announced that it did not even consider the batsmen for central contracts.

Shreyas Iyer’s sister raises eyebrows:

Many believe that BCCI’s call against Shreyas Iyer was a bit harsh and his sister is one of them. She recently commented on an Instagram post defending the batter and criticizing the BCCI for the big call. In the post, the narrator pointed out how Shreyas Iyer skipped last year’s IPL to undergo surgery on his back to play for Team India in the World Cup.

Iyer had suffered the injury during the Ahmedabad Test against Australia in March and remained on the sidelines before returning to action just ahead of the ODI World Cup. He starred in the World Cup and played a key role in India’s dominating run to the final.

The narrator also highlighted Iyer’s injury struggles in recent times before saying that the BCCI terminated the batter’s contract for skipping just one Ranji game. Shresta reacted to the post by commenting: “Thank you for making this video!”

Iyer is currently busy playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy final between Mumbai and Vidarbha. He also played in the semifinal against Tamil Nadu. The right-handed batsman failed to do well in both outings, scoring 3 against Tamil Nadu before being dismissed for 7 in the first innings of the Ranji final.
