In his post, he highlighted how Iyer dealt with setbacks, disappointments and difficult moments away from the limelight, often keeping his struggles to himself in order to move forward.

“People see success today, but very few know what it took to get here. Very few know the sacrifices, the struggles, the disappointments, and the battles you fought silently within yourself.” she wrote.

The Mumbai batsman has had to battle several major injuries over the years, due to which he has had to stay away from competitive cricket for long periods. According to Shrestha, despite dealing with physical and mental challenges, Iyer consistently maintained a positive outlook and reassured his family whenever they were concerned about his recovery.

“Even after three big injuries, when we were worried, when we wanted to cry, you just smiled and said, ‘Man, I’m fine. I’m great. I’m fit,'” she remembers.

He praised his brother for bearing his pain with grace and never giving up on his dreams and described his journey as a source of inspiration for the entire family.

A new chapter begins for India’s T20I captain
