India vice-captain Shreyas Iyer’s participation in the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa is uncertain. After the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, India will play three ODIs in Ranchi, Raipur and Visakhapatnam.

The Test series will begin on November 14 at Eden Gardens, while the ODI series will begin on November 30 in Ranchi. Well, Shreyas Iyer has recently returned from Australia but is still recovering from the injury sustained during the Australia tour.

According to the medical report, the stylish right-handed batsman will need more than a month to be fully fit to return to competitive cricket, making him unavailable for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. The BCCI and selectors are taking a cautious approach, ensuring that he is not brought back into action too soon.

“It will take more time for him to become fully match fit and the board and the selection committee do not want to rush into action following his injury. He is doubtful for the South Africa ODI series,” The Indian Express quoted a BCCI source as saying.
