Shreyas Iyer, who missed the selection for India Asia Cup 2025 Squad is ready for Captain India in the upcoming series against Australia A. According to a report by a cricbuzz, he will lead the team in two four-day informal test matches, as well as the three one-day game scheduled in September and October.
Shreyas Iyer is currently playing for the West Zone in the ongoing Dalip Trophy 2025. The Mumbai batter has appeared in 14 Tests for India. However, Shreyas Iyer has not portrayed the red-ball cricket for the national team since February 2024. Iyer has maintained an impressive form in domestic cricket throughout the year.
Australia a to Tour India from 16 September to 5 October
Australia will visit India for two four-day red-ball matches and a series of three one-day Games from 16 September to 5 October.

According to the schedule, informal tests will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atil Bihari Vajpey Ekna Cricket Stadium in Lucknow from 16-19 September and 23-26, while Odis will be held on 30 September, 3 October and 5 October at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet announced a team for the series to India. In particular, beyond the first informal trial in Lucknow on 7 September, the selection is expected after the conclusion of the Dileep Trophy semi -finals.

The middle-order batsman scored 604 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 175.07 during IPL 2025. He scored 480 runs in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy at an average of 68.57. Iyer was surprisingly out of India’s Asia Cup squad.

Narayan Jagadisin, Ruturaj Gikwad, and Rajat Patidar are also in dispute. Jagadisin, who replaced Rishabh Pant in India’s squad for the fifth Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, scored 197 runs for the South region in the first innings against North Zone on 5 September.
Gaikwad scored 184 runs for West Zone against Central Zone. Patidar made 125 and 66 in the last quarter -finals and remained unbeaten on 47 in the ongoing semi -finals against West Zone. Gaikwad and Jagadisin are yet to appear in a Test match for India, while Patidar has played three Tests.
