Shreyas Iyer consider taking a long break from red-ball cricket
Shreyas Iyer, who has not played a Test match for India in more than a year, has taken a big call in his career when things started going in his favor. Next to the West Indies series, Iyer’s return to India could set a tone for its much awaited return to the Indian test side.
However, the Indian Express reports that Iyer has informed the selectors that he is facing hardness in his back and his body can no longer toll a compelling program of red-ball cricket. Quoting it as a major reason, he is considering taking a break from the format until his body allows him to take the ground for such a long term.
“He has informed us that he (Iyer) must be taking a break from the red ball cricket, and it is good that he has approved it as the selectors are now clear about their future. He will not play red ball cricket in the coming months, and he informed the board that he assesses his body in future who will consult and call it.”
