India national cricket team’s star batsman Shreyas Iyer has issued the latest update on his health after suffering a serious injury in the recent ODI series against the Australian national cricket team.
Shreyas Iyer gave a new update about his health on Instagram on Monday, November 10, as the India national cricket team prepares for the upcoming all-format series against the South Africa national cricket team on home soil.
Shreyas Iyer suffered almost fatal injury
Punjab Kings captain and India’s ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer was part of an unfortunate incident during the three-match ODI series against the Australia national cricket team.
He suffered a serious injury while fielding at the Sydney Cricket Ground during the third ODI against the Australia national cricket team.
Iyer was injured after taking a catch while running backwards from point to dismiss wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey. Immediately after catching the blinder, he looked in pain and immediately grabbed his rib.
The physio came running to the field and took Shreyas Iyer out of the field. He was soon taken to the hospital for further investigation and later admitted to the ICU.
Later, a report revealed that Iyer’s injury was more serious than it appeared, and things could have been worse had he not received adequate treatment on the field by BCCI doctors.
Shreyas Iyer provides a fresh update
Actually, Iyer’s spleen was injured due to internal bleeding and he had to undergo a minor procedure before being discharged from the hospital on November 1.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided constant updates on the batsman during his stay in the hospital and revealed that Dr. Koroush Haghaghi and his team in Sydney, along with India’s Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, ensured that Shreyas Iyer received the best treatment for his injury.
Meanwhile, on Monday, November 10, Iyer shared a photo of himself on the beach and captioned it, “Sun has been a great therapy, grateful to be back, thanks for all the love and care,” apparently mentioning that he is completely fine now.

Gautam Gambhir is dissatisfied with the Indian T20 team
Recently, BCCI shared an interview of Gautam Gambhir on its official website, where the head coach said that they are lucky to have star all-rounders like Axar Patel and Washington Sundar in T20Is, but added that they are currently not even close to where they want to be in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He said:
“For me, I think he will play a very, very important role in the World Cup. And not just the World Cup, not just in subcontinent conditions, the quality he has, I think he is going to flourish in most conditions as well. And that’s why I think Washi’s development over the last 7 or 8 months has been a huge success for Indian cricket.
“Akshar batted at No. 5. Again, I was given a lot of responsibility to bat at No. 5 in the Champions Trophy and exceptionally well. Bowling tough overs, bowling in the powerplay, bowling in the middle. So I think we have enough options. But again, we are still not where we want to be in 3 months. Hopefully, we will be there.”
