Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from his spleen injury, recently lost his cool after facing a security breach while attending a birthday party.
Shreyas Iyer has been the best performer for India with the bat since the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. He was brought into the team in place of Rishabh Pant and then made a place for himself in the eleven.
Shreyas was one of India’s top three run-scorers in the ODI World Cup and was their leading run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy, which they won in Dubai earlier this year. He then also played back-to-back IPL finals, leading KKR to victory in 2024 and PBKS to a runner-up finish in 2025.
Shreyas Iyer lost his cool on security personnel!
Shreyas Iyer is recovering from a serious injury, due to which he is out of the game for about two or more months. However, this time he has come into the limelight for some other reason.
The recent video of an Indian batsman scolding his security men for trying to take a selfie with a cricketer went viral on social media, sparking a new debate on player safety.
In the clip, Iyer can be seen walking through a crowded area with fans looking at him. Instead of clearing the way, one of the security personnel was seen moving forward like a fan to take a selfie, following which the cricketer immediately stepped back.
“Brother, your job is to disperse,” a clear reminder that the guard’s duty was to control the crowd, not to swell it. This happened especially when he was celebrating the birthday of his Punjab Kings teammate Shashank Singh.
Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the home tour of South Africa and New Zealand
Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of taking part in the upcoming series against South Africa and New Zealand. India has to play its upcoming series against South Africa from 30th November.
On the other hand, the next series will be played between India and New Zealand in home conditions, as it will be their first series of 2026. The Indian vice-captain is out of the series.
Shreyas’ injury has created a big hurdle in the path of Punjab Kings.
IPL franchise Punjab Kings, who made it to their second IPL final under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, suffered a major blow as it emerged that Iyer will enter the Indian Premier League 2026 with very little game time. Shreyas also scored 600+ runs in the season.
Punjab Kings are in danger because if Shreyas Iyer’s return date is extended, Shashank Singh may take over as the new captain of the team, but they will definitely lose their best middle-order batsman.
