West Indies created history during the second match of the three-match series against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Monday, October 21. Notably, the Roston Chase-led side became the first team to bowl 50 consecutive overs of spin in a One Day International.
West Indies remained dependent on its spin bowlers throughout the innings. All-rounder fast bowler Justin Greaves was the only pace option in the lineup but was not used. The spinners performed well on another disappointing pitch, restricting the home team to 213 for 7 in 50 overs, without requiring any pace support.

Bangladesh struggled in the beginning on a cracked pitch in Dhaka but finished strong
The Dhaka pitch again challenged the batsmen. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. Soumya Sarkar hit some early fours, while Saif Hasan hit a brief six before being dismissed by Akeal Hosein.
Tauheed Hridoy and Nazmul Hossain Shanto struggled and lost cheaply to Athanase, leaving Bangladesh at 96 for 4 after 28 overs. Mahidul Islam attempted to accelerate but could not rotate the strike effectively and was eventually out for 17.
Sarkar played 89 balls and hit three fours and a six before being dismissed in the 31st over. After this Bangladesh was reduced to 128 runs for 6 wickets. Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Nurul Hasan made a partnership of 35 runs. Nurul scored 23 runs in 24 balls, which included two fours and a six. Bangladesh eventually made a competitive score.
The ongoing ODI in Dhaka is important for West Indies as they look to recover from their 74-run defeat to Bangladesh in the first match on October 18. To stay in the series, victory is necessary for the visiting team.
