It is often stated that there is a crazy number in terms of franchise-level T20 tournament along with the amount of money spent through IPL. To take an IPL jersey home of your favorite side, seems to be a desire for every cricket fundamentalist.
However, in a recently stolen theft, the security guard of the BCCI office at Wankhed Stadium seemed to have been seen that it had robbed a whole carton filled with jerseys from the storeroom of the BCCI office.

IPL jersey theft told at Wankhede Stadium
According to reports from the Times of India, the alleged security guard, who is 40 years old, has taken a full carton of Jersey, which was to include a total of 261 jerseys, which has been called INR 6.52 lakhs by the BCCI.
The incident took place at the BCCI office of Wankhede Stadium in Churchgate, where he took a carton filled with jerseys, with about 2500 each cost.
While the theft was probably held back on June 13, it came into a BCCI notice during an audit report which was recently held, in which some discrepancies were found in the stock. CCTV footage found the alleged security guard to carry a carton filled with jersey. BCCI officials lodged a police complaint at Marine Drive Police Station on 17 July.
“The guard claims that he harassed a little with the online dealer, but he has not yet specified how much he has received for the deal,” officials said.

The alleged security guard, named Pharok Aslam Khan, sold a Haryana dealer to a box filled with online jersey, which he got on social media. He has allegedly sold stocks to fund his online gambling addiction.
BCCI is not yet to confirm whether Jersey was for players or general public who would be buying them officially. The guard himself lives in Meera Road in Mumbai and sells Jersey online while the money was deposited in his account.
The police called the Haryana-based dealer for investigation, to which he replied, he replied, saying that he did not know that the jersey was sold, was stolen. The guard probably told the dealer that the entire lot was part of stock clearance due to renewal in the BCCI office.
Of those 261 jerseys, only 50 have been recovered, while the guard claims that he has lost all the money in online gambling, as revealed by the toi source. The police will check his bank account to verify the details.

BCCI earned record revenue in FY24
The IPL has proved to be a true golden goose for BCCI, as it contributes about 60% of their revenue, and played an important role in BCCI’s record hike in revenue in the financial year 2024.
The IPL is now 100% of the BCCI and has marked a major jump in revenue, and has also popularized sports in the nation. The BCCI generated an annual revenue of 9741.7 crore in FY 2023-24. The IPL alone increased the revenue of about 5761 crore (almost). Even ICC depends largely for a wholesale of its funding on BCCI.
