England’s nightmare Ashes 2025-26 tour of Australia took another ugly turn on Saturday, December 13, when tensions flared up at both Brisbane Airport and Adelaide Airport. The England cricket team led by Ben Stokes is facing problems both on and off the field in Australia.

Australia had already defeated England in the first two Tests in Perth and Brisbane, both of which ended in five days. The hosts now lead the five-match Test series 2-0 with the third Test scheduled to take place at the Adelaide Oval on December 17.

As the Ben Stokes-led England cricket team reached Adelaide for the third Test, a member of the England security staff was seen pushing a cameraman. While passing through the airport terminal for their flight to South Australia, a security member of the England group encountered Channel 7 cameraman Nick Carrigan, who was filming the team.

During the conversation, the security guard was seen extending his hand and pushing the cameraman. Footage of the incident went viral across all Australian media channels, with the confrontation starting inside the terminal before continuing outside and later at Adelaide Airport.

“Get out of my face, buddy, out of my face. Get out of my face,” the England security guard said, reports the Herald Sun. When Carrigan questioned the security staff about his actions, the guard responded, “You’re in my face, buddy; that’s what you’re doing. Don’t be sneaky, buddy. Don’t be sneaky.” To which Carrigan responded, “What are you doing? Dude, you’re attacking me.”

Later, Channel 7 defended the actions of cameraman Nick Carrigan. The broadcaster said the cameraman was doing his job in a calm and professional manner in a public place when he was assaulted and they are now taking the incident seriously.

Channel 7 said in a statement, quoting Code: “While carrying out routine filming in a public space, the camera operator was physically confronted, despite acting in a respectful and professional manner. The safety and well-being of our staff is paramount. This matter is being taken seriously and is now being managed through the appropriate channels.”

The drama did not end here, tensions flared up again between the England cricket team and the Australian media during the Ashes tour. In the latest episode, Sunday Mail reporter Darren Chatman tried to contact the team when England captain Ben Stokes questioned why he was filming behind them.

As reported by Code Sports, Stoked told the Australian reporter, “He was behind me recording everything I was saying.” However, Chatman has denied the allegation against the star all-rounder.

Amid the confrontation, a member of England’s security staff blocked Chatman’s path, glared at him and uttered the derogatory term “pr*ck” at the Australian reporter as he boarded an escalator.

Now it will be interesting to see how Ben Stokes and Co. will handle the Australian crowd in Adelaide.
