Two players of the Australian women’s team were allegedly molested while going from the team hotel to a cafe in Indore on Thursday (October 23).
Australia is currently in India for the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The Australian team is staying in the Radisson Blu Hotel along with the rest of the team.
The incident took place on Thursday morning in Khajrana Road area.
After the incident, both the cricketers immediately sent an SOS message. As soon as the SOS information was received, security officers reached the spot. According to the information, the incident took place on Thursday morning in Khajrana Road area.

Australian team security manager Danny Simmons lodged a complaint at the MIG police station the same day. After receiving the complaint, the police registered an FIR and arrested the accused Akil Khan, who was on the bike at the time of the incident.
Accused arrested after molesting Australian players
PTI reported that the police took prompt action and arrested the accused on Friday. Sub-inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi said the two cricketers were heading towards a cafe when a man on a motorcycle started following them. The man touched the cricketers inappropriately before riding off on his bike.
Both players immediately contacted their team security officer, who coordinated with local security liaison officers and dispatched a vehicle to assist. Assistant Police Commissioner Himani Mishra also immediately swung into action and met the Australian stars.
Police recorded their statements and filed a First Information Report under sections 74 (use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman) and section 78 (stalking) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) at the MIG police station.
“Criminal cases have already been registered against Khan” – Police
The police officer also revealed that a bystander noted down the number of the suspect’s motorcycle, based on which the accused Akil Khan was caught.
“There are already criminal cases registered against Khan and the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
Cricket Australia said, “CA can confirm that two members of the Australian women’s team were approached by a motorcyclist and inappropriately touched while walking to a cafe in Indore.”
Meanwhile, Australia has already sealed its place in the semi-finals of the ongoing World Cup. Their next match is against South Africa in Indore on Saturday (October 25).
