Team India’s all-rounder Akshar Patel suffered some injury to his finger while fielding during the second ODI of the three-match series against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. The left-arm spinner gave life to Australian batsman Matthew Short on the ball of Nitish Kumar Reddy on Thursday, 23 October.
Team India, when invited to bat first, scored 264 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana brought initial success to the team. Travis Head and Australia captain Mitchell Marsh failed to make an impact with the bat as the home side was reduced to 54/2 in 12.2 overs.

Akshar Patel got his fingers injured while fielding at backward point. This incident happened on the fourth ball of the 16th over of Australia’s innings.
Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled a short ball outside off stump to Matthew Short, who responded with a powerful slash towards Axar. While attempting to catch the ball, it hit Akshar’s left thumb.
The deflection allowed the batsmen to score runs. After the incident, Axar, who was visible in pain, had to leave the field to get treatment on his injured hand.
