However, over the years, he focused more on his batting and developed himself as an animal in T20 cricket. In addition, with the introduction of the Impact Player Rule in the IPL, he was no longer used as a bowler, which greatly impressed his ability with the ball.

Dube was mainly played as an expert batsman for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL over the last few years, but he has been asked to bowl a lot by the Indian team management led by Gautam Gambhir.

Shivam Dubey performed a sheer dominance in India’s Asia Cup opener against the United Arab Emirates and performed a wonderful bowling at Dubai International Stadium.

He bowled two overs, took three wickets, and gave just four runs. India dropped the UAE for 57 and won 9 wickets for the game.

Shivam Dubey is a very good talent – Amit Mishra

Speaking after the match, former leg-spinner Amit Mishra said the bowling performance against the United Arab Emirates would serve as a morale booster for Dubey. He said:

“Shivam Dubey is a very good talent. Everyone knows that he is well bats, but with the ball, he took three wickets yesterday. I think he must have been given a big morale boost and very confidence. I would like the Indian team that he can get a chance whenever he can get a chance, because he can work together in any way.

“We all know about his batting, and the fact that he is of a left-handed, adds another valuable option. Therefore, in the coming time, he can become a good all-rounder if we continue him back. But yes, the most important thing is that he would have to work a lot to remain his bowling, his speed, swing, length, control, and differences.

I liked him the most about him. He was his mentality to take wicket – Amit Mishra

Apart from Shivam Dubey, the left-handed wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav shone with the ball against the UAE and was named the match player for his bravery as he returned with incredible figures of 2.1–0-7-4.

Amit Mishra praised Kulip Yadav for having a mentality of taking a wicket. He explained in detail:

“The way he (Kuldeep Yadav) bowled yesterday, taking four wickets, it was a great match for him. He bowled with a good line and length and smart variations. I liked him the most. He had the mentality to take wickets, which is very important for any spinner. A lot depends on how you think as a bowler.”

“Of course, you need to make small adjustments based on the situation, especially in T20 matches, where you have to customize your bowling according to the circumstances. But their mindset and variations were excellent, and that’s why he took four wickets yesterday and was really very good game.”
