What is India’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final qualification scenario?

After the defeat by South Africa, India’s qualification for the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals has become very difficult. Their net run rate has fallen sharply to -3.80, leaving them behind both South Africa (+3.80) and West Indies (+5.35), who already have two points each.

To remain in the tournament, India will have to win both its remaining Super 8 matches. They also need South Africa to win both their remaining matches. If West Indies manage to get another win, India’s chances of qualifying could be all but gone.

After facing Zimbabwe in their next Super 8 match, India are scheduled to take on West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, March 1.
