Shivam Dubey has quietly made a big impact for India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. The star all-rounder has become a vital part of the defending champions with both bat and ball. He stepped up during difficult conditions and helped India maintain its momentum in the event.
In seven matches so far, Shivam Dubey has scored 166 runs and also taken five wickets, proving his usefulness as an all-rounder for the Men in Blue in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. His biggest highlight came against the Netherlands when he scored a brilliant 66 off just 31 balls.
India’s batting depth pushes Shivam Dubey down but he still performs well
This was the highest individual score by an Indian batsman ranked fifth or lower in the history of the T20 World Cup. Despite his impressive performances, former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary believes that Shivam Dubey’s real importance goes beyond statistics.

He pointed out that the depth in India’s batting line-up often pushed Dubey lower down the order, meaning he got fewer opportunities to play long innings; Yet, He has delivered. A perfect example came during India’s high-pressure target chase against West Indies at the Eden Gardens.

Manoj Tiwari on Cricbuzz said, “Shivam Dubey is a player who has always performed well and is still not able to come up the batting order. It means that there is so much depth in the batting that he has to come back so much. But the management is using him very well and because of that he is performing well. It feels very good.”
Manoj Tiwary praises Shivam Dubey’s smart finishing skills
India was chasing a huge target of 196 runs and the match reached a tense situation in the last overs. While Sanju Samson was holding one end firmly, the team needed someone who could finish the job quickly. Dubey came in at the last minute and made an immediate impact.
He played only four balls but made it count by hitting two powerful fours at a strike rate of 200, giving India the needed push to complete the record chase and the Bengal minister felt that this was where Dubey’s real strength lay.
The former Indian batsman praised Shivam Dubey for how he reads the field carefully, and sometimes he goes for a big hit, while sometimes he uses the gaps with clever placement. This blend of power and smart cricket makes him a dangerous finisher in the shortest format.
Dubey is India’s best finisher after MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh: Tiwari
Tiwari said, “The situation was not easy for him. If he had not hit a four, the pressure would have increased on him. Because it is always seen that it looks easy, but it is not easy. It is his quality due to which he sends the low full toss so easily to the boundary over wide long on. And then the way he glided the ball, he realized that I had to either get it late or move forward so that I get the gap. So, it was just a big hit. It’s not about playing with your mind.
He also believes that India has got another reliable match finisher in Dubey after legends like MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. The cricket pundit signed off by saying, “He is a very good finisher for India after MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, who can finish matches like this. He deserves equal credit.”
