India vs Pakistan match has been canceled in the World Championship of Legends, as the organizers have asked for official apology, while Edgbaston officials have guaranteed the return of ticket prices.
The match was to be held on Sunday July 2025, and was to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. These decisions were made on social media after a big public outrage, which was about the former Indian players to withdraw from being closed against Pakistan.
Former Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan was one of the first names to exit the upcoming World Championship of the 2025 match against Pakistan.

Shikhar Dhawan first refuses to play against Pakistan
Since India has not played in international cricket in any bilateral chain for more than a decade, the two teams often meet the ICC as well as the International Multi-Team tournaments conducted by ACC. Such tournaments are usually witness to great rivalry between the two teams.
This time, WCL suffers from a backlash, as many players from Indian legends have accepted the heinous incident in Pahalgam earlier this year. The Government of India may have retaliated for the attack, but the painful screams of innocent civilians increase the hearts of many people.
Dhawan’s official statement confirmed that he had informed the organizers in advance that he would not play matches against Pakistan in Birmingham. He said that weeks were confirmed on May 11, weeks after the incident.

Shikhar Dhawan, through his social media posts on X, confirmed that he is still firm on the decision not to feature against Pakistan. Along with this, he also shared a screenshot of the mail sent to the official organizers to his team.
It is written in the mail, “It is formally repeated and confirmed that Mr. Shikhar Dhawan will not participate in any match against the Pakistan team in the upcoming WCL League. The decision was dated on 11 May 2025 during the first call and discussion on calls and WhatsApp.”

Pathan brothers and Harbhajan Singh also pulled out
According to reports of Revsports, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan also decided to get out of the match against Pakistan. Here, BCCI does not control players on its participation in WCL.
