One of the most consistent and successful white ball openers in Indian cricket history, Shikhar Dhawan has finally shared the emotional moment when he realized that his time in international cricket was almost over.
On August 24, 2024, Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement through social media in all forms of the game, stating that he was peacefully with his decision.

In that match, Shikhar Dhawan and Kishan opened the innings for India in the absence of Captain Rohit Sharma. While the left -arm veteran opener scored just 3 runs, Kishan exploded with an unforgettable 210 off just 131 balls, with 24 fours and 10 sixes against Bangladesh.

It was impossible to ignore the difference between the two knocks, and Dhawan felt that his time was over in the Indian jersey. Although the former Indian opener was contributing the score continuously in the 50s and 70s, he could not reach a three-unconventional mark recently during that period.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill’s rapid growth forms also pushed Dhawan away from India’s ODI plans before the 2023 World Cup.
