27-year-old West Indies national cricket team all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford has officially signed a new Indian Premier League (IPL) contract with five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI).

Gujarat Titans (GT) have decided to sell middle-order batsman Sherfane Rutherford to Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction.

On Thursday, November 13, the Indian Premier League (IPL) released an official statement, confirming that Sherfane Rutherford has been traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) to Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 2.6 crore.

“West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford is set to represent Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 season after a successful trade from Gujarat Titans (GT). Acquired by GT for a fee of Rs 2.6 crore, Rutherford will move to MI at his current fee. The 27-year-old has featured in 44 T20Is for the West Indies and is the highest wicket taker for the sixth wicket in T20Is. Made a partnership record of 139 runs with Andre Russell against Australia in Perth.

“Rutherford has played 23 IPL matches so far, having previously represented Delhi Capitals in 2019 and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022. He was a part of the MI squad in 2020 and the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024, but was not included in the playing eleven during those seasons,” the IPL Governing Council said.
