Sarfaraz Khan has suffered another setback in his career as the selectors recently decided to include him in the India A squad for the upcoming red-ball series against South Africa A.
The right-handed batsman has not played a Test for India since the home series against New Zealand in November last year.
Sarfaraz was included in the Test team for the first time for the home series against England.
After scoring heavily in domestic cricket for several seasons, Sarfaraz Khan finally got his first Test call-up for the home series against England last year.
He announced his arrival at the highest level of the game by scoring two half-centuries in his first Test. Later, he scored 150 against New Zealand in the Bengaluru Test. In his first 6 Test matches, the Mumbai star scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10. However, he has not played any Test since.

Sarfaraz was an unused player on the Australia tour
He was an unused player on the tour of Australia before losing his place in the Test team. Despite scoring 92 runs for India A against England Lions in an unofficial Test, he was ignored for the tour of England.
Recently, things went from bad to worse for Sarfaraz Khan as he did not even get a place in the India A team for the upcoming series against South Africa. Many people believe that the recent decision of the selectors is a big indication that the selectors are not currently considering Sarfaraz as an option.

As Sarfaraz Khan looks to bounce back after another setback, Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur has backed him. The all-rounder, who is out of the Indian team, said that Sarfaraz Khan does not need to play for India A to regain his place in the Test team. Thakur said that Sarfaraz can also make a comeback from the national team after performing well in the Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, Thakur will also look to perform well with both bat and ball and impress the selectors to earn a recall. After the England tour, he has also lost his place in the Test team. He played two of the five Tests against England before being dropped from the two-match series against the West Indies at home.
