The Indian Selection Committee is ready to select the team for the two -match Test series against the West Indies on Wednesday, 24 September, so it will be interesting to see if Sarfaraz Khan gets a node for the home series.

Sarfaraz Khan emerged as a strong candidate for selection, when Shreyas Iyer took a break from red-ball cricket due to ongoing fitness issues. Iyer was expected to be selected for the upcoming home test series, but his non -availability has opened the door for other contenders like Sarfaraz.

The 26 -year -old batsman has so far scored an average of 37.10 in 11 innings and 371 runs at a strike rate of around 75. His standout performance came up with a brilliant 150 against New Zealand, showing both his skills, aggression and nature.

Well, Narayan Jagadeson is likely to be chosen as a backup wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant failed to get match fitness after being the first choice wicketkeeper with Dhruv Jurlel. This will leave Abhimanyu Ishwaran out. Both the players had a concrete demonstration against Australia A.

Ishwaran scored 44 off 58 balls in the first innings on 17 September, while Jagadisin impressed more with a 64 -run knock off 113 balls, giving the selectors something to think. Even Manav Suthar is in dispute to earn his girl India call-up. The left -arm spinner impressed the selectors against Australia A with his impressive performance for India.

Meanwhile, India will play their first domestic series since Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin since retired from Test cricket. The team has shown a feeling of tremendous fighting in England. But it will be interesting to see how young Indian captain Shubman Gill adopts his captaincy and brings the best from his players in the position of the house.
