Indian veteran cricketer Virat Kohli’s comeback to ODI cricket was disappointing when he was out for zero in 8 balls against Mitchell Starc. This is the first time that Virat has been out for zero in Australia.
India face Australia in the first ODI of the Australian Summer at the Optus Stadium in Perth. This begins the World Cup preparations for both sides, as the 2023 World Cup finalists clash in an epic battle.
India’s great players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made their much-awaited comeback in the 50-over format after the ICC Champions Trophy. Both the giants are being considered as contenders for the 2027 ICC World Cup.
Virat Kohli went without troubling the scorers in Perth
After announcing his retirement from Test and T20I formats, Virat Kohli is playing only one format in international cricket.
The batsman has been backed by greats to continue playing the format until the next World Cup in 2027, and even he has agreed that he feels fitter than ever coming into the game after such a long gap.
Virat’s much-awaited comeback turned into a nightmare for him as he was out for a duck for the first time on Australian soil. After playing the first over to Mitchell Starc, Kohli was out on the first ball of Starc’s fourth over.
A delivery round-off that was leaving the right-hander was edged and lofted towards point. The ball turned and a sharp catch by young Cooper Connolly at point sent the great Indian back to the pavilion.
Unfortunately for Virat Kohli, he was finding it difficult to deviate from the target and due to this his wicket was ruined.

Shubman Gill’s captaincy starts on a disappointing note with the bat
Indian young player Shubman Gill has flourished when he has been given the additional responsibility of captaincy. Even in international cricket, after taking over the Test captaincy from Rohit Sharma, he has proven to be a promising player in the longest format of the game.
Coming to Australia, it looks like a big challenge for the 25-year-old young player. However, he cannot be expected to compromise his batting form for anything. Shubman Gill is performing brilliantly as an ODI batsman and remains at number one. First position in ICC rankings for more than a year.
