Team India batsman Sarfaraz Khan talked about the dream he shares with his younger brother Musheer Khan of scoring a century in the same match during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025. Sarfaraz said that dreams take time to come true, even though the opportunity seems within reach in Ranji Trophy 2025.

The right-handed batsman ended the year in style with a brutal batting performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. During the match against Goa, he scored 157 runs in just 75 balls, which included 14 sixes. His explosive innings helped Mumbai register an emphatic 87-run win on Wednesday, December 31.

Our common dream is to score a century… – Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan said that he and Mushir Khan came close to scoring centuries in the same match on more than one occasion, including in the Ranji Trophy, but missed the feat by a narrow margin each time.

“We have a common dream of scoring a century in the same game. We were close this season and again last week in the Ranji Trophy, but we both got out in the fifties. Today Musheer was batting so well and I thought we could do it. But dreams don’t come true so quickly,” Sarfaraz told The Times of India.

Musheer was batting really well – Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan said that reading the situation and relying on his ODI experience helped him settle in quickly at the crease. He said being familiar with shots like sweeps and cuts as well as ODI pacing gave him the confidence to play freely without any hesitation.

Sarfaraz said, “By the time I came to the crease, Musheer was batting really well. He was the first player to reach fifty.” “I have played a lot of ODIs and I know how to pace the innings. I have good sweep and cut and in this format you can’t have more than five fielders out. This gives me the freedom to play my shots,” he said.
