After which, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were thrown into the mixture as one of the top contenders to sign the captain of Rajasthan Royals. But CSK’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin cooled the promotion with an interesting statement yet on the buzz.

Ravichandran Ashwin said in a video on his YouTube channel, “CSK fan is emotional and hopeful about landing Sanju Samson through business. Nevertheless, he should remember that he must send a player or players who are adding up to 18 crores. Either they can send RR to a player of 18 crores or send a third team to a third team.
Meanwhile, a Cricbuzz report claimed that Chennai Super Kings have already rejected a trade proposal from Rajasthan Royals. He allegedly asked for one of CSK’s biggest names- Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, or Shivam Dubey- on the exchange for Samson.

‘CSK does not believe in business players’
However, CSK turned down the request, making it clear that they were not ready to participate with their main players. Given that Ashwin feels Sanju Samson Trade for CSK is not very likely. He said that CSK rarely trade its leading players, and RR does not benefit much than let his captain go.
The former Indian off-spinner further indicated that Samson’s possibility of returning to the IPL 2026 auction is thin, as RR will be the largest defeat in that scenario.
Ashwin further said, “There is no possibility of not going through business, this is another reason that CSK does not believe in business players. They will not give Dub or Jadeja. Also, RR does not have a big benefit from a cricketing point of view in this business. But Sanju is at least likely to enter the auction.

Well, Rajasthan Royals had a forgetable IPL 2025 season, which finished second from below with just four wins in 14 matches. However, Ashwin believes that Royals can still bounce back firmly in IPL 2026, even if they let their captain go and send it to the auction.
He signed, saying, “RR is not less on skills on his behalf even without Sanju. Yes, losing them will be a big hit. But their team is still good, and if they correct their bowling with that money, the team will be set.”
