Indian wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson wanted out of his former franchise Rajasthan Royals. However, according to the latest report in TOI, the Sanju Samson swap deal between Royals and Delhi Capitals is likely to be cancelled.
The IPL trade window is live, and trades will continue to take place until the start of the next season of IPL. This time, player retentions are to be announced, while several players have been lined up for trade between teams.
Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals have been actively involved in the trade window after failing to show promising performances in the last season of the IPL.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, have considered releasing their players to join other big names in the mini-auction.
Sanju Samson’s contract with Delhi Capitals likely to be cancelled.
Indian wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has asked his former franchise, Rajasthan Royals, to release him ahead of the mini-auction as he wants to explore his options among other teams.
Samson attracted the attention of many franchises, but due to unreasonable demands from Rajasthan Royals, they could not make a trade deal for him. Finally, his former franchise, Delhi Capitals showed interest in picking up Sanju Samson and the Royals seemed satisfied with the deal.
The Royals sought Tristan Stubbs and another uncapped player from the Capitals setup; However, the deal may not happen, as Kushan Sarkar reports that it may not happen due to Delhi Capitals’ reluctance to release Stubbs from their team.
Delhi Capitals have refused to part ways with Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul
Another big speculation had hit the internet: that Delhi Capitals might consider releasing their marquee batsman from last season. KL Rahul participated in the mega-auction and managed to score the most runs for the Capitals in IPL 2025.
Kolkata Knight Riders made several attempts to include KL Rahul in their squad as they are looking for an opening batsman as well as a wicketkeeper after Quinton de Kock failed to deliver last season.
However, now, as per reports, the Capitals have rejected all their deals for KL Rahul and are unwilling to let go of their most experienced player and highest run-scorer.
There is absolutely no possibility of a Sanju Samson-Tristan Stubbs swap.
And it doesn’t look like that @DelhiCapitals A player with the experience of KL Rahul will also be let go.

Samson may get attractive bid in IPL mini-auction
Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson will be in high demand if he enters the IPL mini-auction. If Sanju Samson’s deal gets cancelled, he will be one of the highest-bid players in this IPL mini-auction.
Teams like Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, who are looking for an option for an Indian wicketkeeper batsman, may be willing to spend any price to get him in their side.
Samson could also be a captaincy option for teams like Capitals and Knight Riders, who have reported parting ways with their former captain Ajinkya Rahane.
