Indian wicketkeeper-bater Sanju Samson has opened his popular chat show “Kuti Stories with Ash” about his ‘all-time cricketing idol’ during a recent discussion with former off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Almost every modern day wicketkeeper-boss MS Dhoni or Adam Gilchrist take the names if they were asked to name their inspiration, but this was not the case with Sanju Samson.

Both Dhoni and Gilchrist are considered to be two of the two biggest wicketkeepers-batses which the game has ever seen. Nevertheless, Samson has chosen an unfamiliar name in the context of the role playing in both international and domestic cricket when he talked about his cricket inspiration.

Samson left the fans and even Ashwin shocked Rohit Sharma as his “all-time cricketing Idol” by raising the former Indian all-rounder’s YouTube show “Kuti Stories with Ash”. He was actually influenced by Rohit’s quiet approach and spontaneous batting style.
Sanju Samson supported Vaibhav Suryavanshi as future star

Amidst connecting Samson to Chennai Super Kings, former India batsman Chris Srikanth felt that this could be an ideal way for the franchise to fill his prestigious captain, MS Dhoni’s huge shoes.
Former Indian selector and 1983 World Cup winner has praised Samson as a “brilliant player” with the best man to change MS Dhoni in Chennai. He suggested that Dhoni could play another season, but he feels that Ruturaj Gikwad should continue as captain.

Srikanth said on his YouTube channel, “Dhoni can play in this season, perhaps not a year later, and then you can make a smooth transition. But I think if Ruturaj Gikwad has been captained, he should be continued.”
However, Srikanth said that Rajasthan Royals should try to keep Samson, especially since he started a new mega auction cycle this year, which had a team around him. In particular, Samson, along with Yashsvi Jaiswal, was one of the main protests of RR in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
