Sanju Samson’s struggles continue as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener was out for just 7 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their first IPL 2026 home match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After hitting a four, Samson lost his wicket on the very next ball. Star bowler Xavier Bartlett helped PBKS by dismissing CSK batsmen.
Just a few balls earlier, from the commentary box, Ian Bishop had mentioned that the bowler could get better results against Sanju Samson if he reduced the space and kept constant pressure on the batsman. Xavier Bartlett did what Bishop suggested.

In the previous delivery, the right-handed batsman went down the leg side away from the stumps and smashed the PBKS bowler. In the next delivery, Bartlett predicted Samson’s movement and bowled the ball close to his body.
The ball went away from the seam and Samson tried to push the ball down the wicket, but he got an edge which went behind the stumps, where keeper Prabhsimran Singh made no mistake in gloveing the ball.
