Rajasthan Royals (RR) congratulated young wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurlel on social media, as he was named the captain of the Central Zone for the Dalip Trophy. Shortly after the report came out, his current IPL captain Sanju Samson had requested to leave the franchise before the 2026 auction.
The Dalip Trophy has returned to its traditional zonal format after the previous season, which features four teams selected by the Senior Men’s Committee led by Ajit Agarkar. This year, teams are chosen by zonal committees, each include representatives of state teams within the respective areas.

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-Bater was part of the India’s squad during the Anderson-Tendulkar Test series against England, which ended in 2–2 draws. He replaced the injured Rishabh Pant in the final test. It is worth noting that he also took wickets in the third and fourth tests after a pants injury.
The Central Zone Squad will discontinue its Duleep Trophy campaign against the North East at the Excellence Center in Bangalore on August 28. Rajat Patidar has been appointed as the deputy of Jurall.

Rajasthan Royals congratulated Dhruv Juraral after his appointment as the captain of the central region. The social media post attracted attention as this report came after less than 12 hours after the report came out that Sanju Samson had asked to be released or traded before the 2026 auction.

Royals have not officially responded to the reports about Samson, and their tweet did not give any direct reference to their position. However, the post time has raised the eyebrows, highlighting the underlying tension within the team.
Samson requested to give up his franchise after disagreement over his batting position. Although he usually opens in T20 matches, including India, Rajasthan Royals launched Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the previous season after Samson’s injury.

Kuldeep Yadav, who was part of India’s squad during the tour of England, will lead the spin bowling attack. Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar will also be part of the spin unit. Dubey recently set a Ranji Trophy record by taking 69 wickets in the same season.
The pace attack will be led as Khalel Ahmed, who had a brief tenure with Essex. Deepak Char, who has recovered from the IPL injury, will join the team.
With 960 runs, the most run-scorer, Yash Rathore of Vidarbha, will be part of the batting lineup in the last Ranji season. Danish Mallever, who played an important role in Vidarbha’s last victory, is also in the squad. Team coach, Usman Ghani led Vidarbha during his successful campaign.
