On Thursday, August 7, an explosive report by cricbz claimed that superstar wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has asked Rajasthan Royals (RR) for his release.
The report claimed that there are ‘serious differences’ between Sanju Samson and Rajasthan Royals (RR) management, which has inspired the wicketkeeper-batsman to ask for his release.

For a very long time, Sanju Samson-Rajasthan Royals’s business talks have taken the center platform and the Indian Premier League (IPL) is the biggest thing before the 2026 auction.

There were some conflicting reports about the situation between the two sides, but a latest report on the matter suggests that Samson has formally asked Rajasthan Royals to trade or leave it.
The family members of the Kerala Star have openly stated that Samson is not keen to continue with the inauguration IPL champion, and his colleagues have indicated that wicketkeeper-batsman is not in good words with franchisees.
“Serious differences between Sanju Samson and Royals management have cropped up – so much that the nominated captain has formally requested to do business or release in auction.”
The report said, “Samson’s family members openly say that he no longer desires to continue with the Royals. Some current IPL and his close international players have also indicated that their relationship with the franchise was not exactly the same as it used to happen.”
RR is not keen to deal an all-cash one-way deal
Samson signed a 18 crore deal with Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction, which bans them from leaving the team by 2027.
The IPL contracts are quite strict in nature, and a player can just leave a team if he wants. But on the other hand, a franchise has the right to terminate the contract, and release a player who is no longer interested in living will be beneficial for both sides only.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) has allegedly discovered options to participate with Samson through trade, but has not made good proposals from the franchise. CSK has openly shown interest in roping at Sanju Samson, but is not ready to release his players, and RR is not keen on an all-kash one-way deal.
“Some franchises have shown interest, but no one has offered an acceptable trade to RR management. Super Kings of Chennai openly expressed interest, but as a case of policy, they are not ready to release their players – a direct trade rule.”
MS Dhoni, Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is in Chennai, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) officials held meetings recently, but it is not clear that the agenda was the acquisition of Sanju Samson.

Sanju Samson did not get freedom in Rajasthan Royals
According to the same Cricbuzz report, Samson did not get freedom that he was expected to be a captain in Rajasthan Royals (RR).
He is India’s Go-Two opener in T20Is and also likes that place in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but the emergence of Vaibhav Suryavanshi pushed him down with a teenage sensation with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
In addition, many other factors have become sour relationship between the two sides. Samson is the most shaken player in history for Rajasthan Royals with 155 games under his belt. He has scored an average of 31.96 for RR and 3002 runs at a strike rate of 140.53.
