Team India wicketkeeper-son Sanju Samson fooled former Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shankuf during the final Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2025. While Sri Lanka was already abolished before the game, the moment refused her to win a consolation in a high-octane clash.

India defeated Sri Lanka in an exciting super in Dubai on Friday, 26 September. Sri Lanka managed to score 202-5, chasing 203 runs, forced the match to super over. Arshdeep Singh scored just two runs, and Suryakumar Yadav along with Shubman Gill sealed the victory for men in blue.

Prior to the super over, Dasun Shanaka managed to take two runs from Harshit Rana to take two runs from a delivery when three runs were needed to secure the victory. The ball rolled to the long-on, and Shanaka tried to complete the second run.

Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson came close to the stump and it seemed that he had collected the ball. Fearing a run-out, Shanaka took a tough dip. A third run was possible, but Shanaka, still recovering from her dive, could not take advantage of it.

Shanaka was unaware that there was a chance for the third run. Meanwhile, Jenith Linaz tried to take a third, but the ball reached Harshit Rana, which felt.

India narrowly survived a loss as Shanaka was unable to return for the third run. If the cone was not on the ground, he would have completed the third run.

Arshdeep Singh scored just two runs in super over

Arshdeep Singh started brilliantly for India by rejecting Perera on the first ball of the super over. Kamindu Mendis did the same thing with the second ball to open Sri Lanka’s account.

Arshdeep then bowled an exact yorker outside the off-stump for Shanaka, which failed to contact. Shanka was initially caught behind on the fourth ball, and Sanju Samson did a run-out with a straight hit. Later Altridge showed no contact, and the ball was considered dead.

However, Shanaka fell on the fifth ball. Jitesh Sharma completed the catch at deep backward point. Sri Lanka’s innings ended on just two runs. Suryakumar Yadav sealed the victory on the first ball. Men will face Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai on 28 September, Sunday.

Sanju Samson scored 39 runs off 23 balls in India’s innings

Earlier in the match, India posted a total of 202/5 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma and Sanju Samson played an important innings for men in Blue. Sharma scored 61 runs in 31 balls, including eight borders and two sixes.

Tilak Verma remained unbeaten at 49 from 34 delivery. Exer Patel contributed 21 runs off 15 balls, which included six six in the final delivery.

Batting at number 5, Sanju Samson scored 39 runs off 23 balls, with three sixes and a limit. He also shared a significant 66 -run partnership with Tilak Verma to stabilize India’s innings after the team slipped up to 92/3.

Samson had earlier registered scores of 56 (45) and 13 (17) against Oman and Pakistan. He has been reshuffled by the team management in the batting order throughout the tournament.
