Indian wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has finally moved to Chennai Super Kings after all the paperwork was completed.
Chennai Super Kings can finally look beyond MS Dhoni as they have clinched a blockbuster deal that will see a different Indian wicketkeeper batsman, Sanju Samson, playing in the yellow jersey.
Having an option with the gloves is a big part of his selection for the Indian national player. The Kerala player would have wanted some chances behind the wicket, as he was also dropped from the Indian team when Jitesh Sharma came in as his replacement.
Sanju Samson joins CSK
According to the latest reports, Sanju Samson deal between CSK and RR has been finalized. The deal, which was on record on social media for several months, has been finalized after all the paperwork between the two franchises.
The documents and final deal agreement are signed between the team owners and the two players from both the teams. It is being told that the work of handing over the documents between the two franchises has also been completed and Samson has moved to Super Kings.

Is BCCI’s approval required for Samson-Jadeja deal?
The trade deal between Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja is almost finalized and it is getting delayed as the BCCI decision is not in their favor yet. Chennai Super Kings has also agreed to trade CSK all-rounder Sam Curran.
The trade needs to be approved by the BCCI, as it will be the third completed trade deal before the retention deadline, which is November 15. This will be the third after Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford were transferred to MI from LSG and GT respectively.
Samson will not keep wickets for CSK in IPL 2026
MS Dhoni was undoubtedly very good for CSK, making some sharp stumpings and taking brilliant catches behind the stumps. Therefore, it cannot be said that MS Dhoni will be taken off the field and shown as an impressive player.
Badrinath told, “MS Dhoni will definitely not play as an impact player. If he plays, he will act as a keeper.” He said, “The main reason for Dhoni to play is that he needs to be in Chepauk. As an impact player, he can come to bat only in the last two overs. We don’t know whether he comes to bat in that situation or not.” Subramaniam Badrinath.
“He may not even play the entire season, but he will be there as a wicketkeeper, not as a captain, that’s for sure,” Badrinath said. He said, “But he will definitely be on the field as a keeper. He said that he will be on the field to play. It will not happen that Dhoni is out of the field and leaves a player like Sanju Samson to keep wickets. He will take this decision and will talk to Sanju Samson.”
