In a surprise move, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has ignored Sanju Samson from the list of nominees for February 2026. Three players – Sahibzada Farhan, Will Jacques and Shadley van Schalkwyk have been nominated for the prestigious ICC award.
Among the nominees, Pakistan opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan tops the list for his stellar batting in the T20 World Cup 2026 tournament. He was the standout batsman for the Pakistan cricket team in the title race, scoring 383 runs at an average of 76.60 with a strike rate of 160.25. With staggering batting statistics, Farhan became the leading run-scorer in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Sahibzada Farhan also left behind Virat Kohli’s T20 World Cup record
During this, the top order batsman broke the record of Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli. In the 2014 T20 World Cup, Kohli had scored 319 runs and Sahibzada Farhan had 383 runs in his name on an individual basis. Farhan’s name in the list of nominees is understandable, but why did ICC not consider Sanju Samson for the award? Cricket fans raised questions.
