Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka received praise on social media after a heated conversation with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli. Goenka waited patiently with his young grandson to get an autograph from the RCB batsman, leaving fans in awe of his gesture.

Lucknow Super Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 9 runs via DLS method in a rain-reduced 19-over match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Thursday, May 7. The win ended Lucknow’s tough six-match losing streak and also gave the franchise its first home win in five matches this IPL season.

Sanjeev Goenka’s humble gesture towards Virat Kohli won hearts

After the match, Sanjiv Goenka waited patiently with his grandson while Virat Kohli spoke to Lucknow Super Giants’ strategic advisor Kane Williamson. Goenka also stopped an LSG staff member from interrupting the conversation between the two cricketers.

Goenka’s grandson is a big fan of Kohli and the LSG owner wanted the youngster to meet the Royal Challengers Bangalore star after the match. However, the 65-year-old refused to exercise his authority and waited for Kohli and Williamson to finish their discussion.

After completing his conversation with Williamson, Kohli greeted Goenka and his grandson near the boundary rope. The former RCB captain interacted with the child and gave him an autograph. Fans on social media praised both Kohli’s gestures and Goenka’s behavior during the conversation.

Rishabh Pant expressed relief after Lucknow Super Giants got an important win in the tournament. The captain acknowledged that the team has faced a tough campaign and ultimately praised the team for producing strong all-round performances with both bat and ball.

“It was definitely a good game for us. It means a lot for the whole team. We are trying a lot of things. It means a lot for us to get on the same page. It has been a tough season but sometimes you have to go through the hard work. Of course we were trying to create a perfect game where the batting and bowling went together,” Pant said.

Rishabh Pant also explained his decision to hand the final over to Digvesh Rathi while defending 20 runs. The Lucknow Super Giants captain praised Mitchell Marsh’s brilliant innings and credited the bowling attack for performing well under pressure throughout the match.

“It was a tough decision. We were under pressure. Rathi was the right matchup for Romario Shepherd. Incredible innings. We know as a team we have been working hard. Our strength this season has been the bowling, the way all the bowlers have put their hearts into it. Some good things have happened as a bowling unit, and we are looking forward to it,” Pant said.

Mitchell Marsh played a sensational innings of 111 runs in 56 balls in the first innings, helping Lucknow Super Giants score 209/3. Pant also remained unbeaten after scoring 32 runs. During the chase, Rajat Patidar scored 61 runs, but Royal Challengers Bangalore ultimately fell behind in the final over.

Prince Yadav impressed with figures of 3/33 during the powerplay. The fast bowler dismissed Virat Kohli for a duck in two balls and also put Bengaluru under early pressure by dismissing Jacob Bethel cheaply.
