Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has shared his views on major cricket tournaments ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. The cricketer-turned-commentator said the “Cricket World Cup” label should be reserved only for the 50-over event, as the T20 tournament is played every two years.
The fifth T20 match between India and New Zealand will be held on Saturday, January 31 at the Greenfield International Stadium. After the series, Suryakumar Yadav and his team will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against the United States of America (USA) on February 7 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2025, Sanjay Manjrekar said that the term “Cricket World Cup” should be used only for the 50-over tournament, which is held once every four years. Manjrekar said that the T20 event should be called World T20.
