Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said that head coach Gautam Gambhir is likely to have not portrayed the first four trials against England. Manjrekar said that it is time to bring back the left-handed wrist-spinner to XI for the fifth and final test at the Oval in London.

“Sometimes you may think that you get away with the batting form of the batsmen because who could think that Vashi could be a possible number 5 in a test match? And as Jadeja No. 6, as a pure batsman, he can bat like a pure batsman,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on ESPNCICINFO.
He said, “But India will have to start relying on his batting line-up, despite Rishabh Pant not a part of it. And Kuldeep Yadav will have to come back. There are so many moments in this series where you must have imagined Kaldeep to be a part of the Indian bowling attack.”

Sanjay Manjrekar further said that Kuldeep should be included for the final test in place of Sharadul Thakur. However, he said that reports show that Shardul can maintain his place due to Gautam Gambhir’s preferences.
“We have talked about the moments when India can create a difference and win a game. And that’s the place where Kuldeep Yadav could actually work. So, he comes in, and Shardul Thakur sits out,” said Manjrekar.

India Trail England are moving fifth and 2–1 in the final test at Oval. While Shubman Gill’s side can still level the series with a win, England require only one draw to lift the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
