Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar has slammed Pakistan for a lack of depth in his batting order and indicated a huge difference in excellence between India and Pakistan players, which led to India’s comfortable victory despite the performance below in the first innings.
India first insulted Pakistan in a group-off game, which was the first time these two countries played each other in a tournament, as a war-like situation arose between the nations.
In the first game, Suryakumar Yadav led India to a comfortable win and then humiliated the opposition with a snub of the customary ritual of the handshake. The same trend which continued to controversy in the second game as well. India also won in Pakistan in the second game.
“This again shows a big difference between India and Pakistan on the sheer capacity and skill” – Sanjay Manjrekar Shams Pakistan
After India defeated Pakistan, former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar claimed that the victory over his rivals in Super Four is a sign of a difference between two Asian sides. India won the match by 6 wickets.
“This is with India-Pakistan matches. India was not in its best, clearly. Just imagine being a Bumrah. He had one day the most expensive bowler. He had a day, so India’s chief bowler had a bad game. India dropped three catches, so India was below its best.
India’s victory against Pakistan marked the 7th consecutive win against rivals in all formats of the game and the fourth direct win in T20I.
“This again shows a big difference on the sheer ability and skills between India and Pakistan. I was happy for Pakistan because they were a little better, so there was some spark. But you could see how the Indian bowlers still managed to pull back things. Why did Pakistan’s batting not be depth in the batting of Pakistan,” he said.
Sanjay Manjrekar has given extraordinary praise for Team India in T20I cricket
After being embarrassed by Pakistan, Sanjay Manjrekar highly praised the Indian team in the shortest format of the game. In Blue, men have dominated the format, winning 29 of their last 32 matches, including the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
“Finally, Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and the way Tilak Verma finished things, this is an immense supply of extraordinary players. So India, even in the match where they were not in their best, still show us all what they are better for Pakistan and a malignant T20 team.”
Can both India and Pakistan qualify for the Asia Cup final?
Both India and Pakistan still have a chance to face each other for the third time in the Asia Cup 2025. India have started the Super -4 matches with a win, and with their inauspicious looks in the tournament, they are a favorite for winning the remaining two matches and watching in the finals.
On the other hand, Pakistan, despite losing against India, can still see it in the final if they win the remaining two matches. Under such a scenario, both teams will face each other in the final of a competition, when they last performed in the final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
