Constas scored 60 runs off just 52 balls in his Test debut. The ICC later punished Kohli with a 20% fine on his match fee and a demerit point for violation of the code of conduct. While Contas did not react to the incident at that time, he responded in the best way.
Will Sam Constas cement his location as Australia’s Test opener?
Sam Contas struggled to maintain the form through the remaining part of the India series and was released out of the squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. He was also excluded from the playing XI in the WTC final against South Africa, where Australia opted to open with Maarnas Lebschen and Osman Khwaja.
The pair failed to provide a solid start, and the team eventually suffered defeat. Labuschagne was dropped from XI, Kontas is ready to open with Khwaja in the upcoming testing series against the West Indies.
Australia, led by Pat Cummins, are set to launch their 2025-27 World Test Championship campaign with a three-match Test series in Caribbean. The first Test will begin on Wednesday, 25 June at Bridgetown, Kensington Oval in Barbados.
